Altitude & Acclimatization
✔ Extreme High-Altitude Trek – Rainbow Mountain stands at 5,100m (16,732 ft), making it one of the highest-altitude hikes in Peru.
✔ Acclimatization Strongly Recommended – Spend at least two days in Cusco before this trek to allow your body to adjust.
✔ Ideal Preparation – Taking lower-altitude tours like Sacred Valley, Maras & Moray, or City Tour beforehand can help ease
altitude transition.
✔ Preventing Altitude Sickness – Stay hydrated, eat light meals, and hike at a steady pace. Our guides carry oxygen tanks and

Level
✔ High-Altitude Trek – The hike reaches 5,100m (16,732 ft), making altitude a key challenge. Even well-conditioned hikers may feel
the effects of lower oxygen levels.

the summit. The descent through Red Valley adds an extra challenge but offers breathtaking landscapes.
✔ Acclimatization Required – Due to the altitude, we strongly recommend spending at least two days in Cusco before attempting
this hike.
✔ Trekking Poles Recommended – While not mandatory, they provide extra stability on the rocky and sometimes muddy paths,
especially for the descent. Inside Peru Adventures offers trekking poles for rent upon request.
✔Physical Preparation – A good fitness level is recommended, as the thin air makes the ascent more strenuous than lower-altitude
hikes.
Weather & Packing Recommendations
✔ Unpredictable Weather – Dry season: April to October, rainy season: November to March. However, snow and strong winds can
occur year-round due to the high altitude.
✔ Dress in Layers – Mornings are freezing, while midday temperatures can rise quickly. Recommended: a thermal base layer, fleece,
windproof jacket, and gloves.
✔ Sun Protection – Due to intense UV exposure, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat are essential.
✔ Rain Protection – A waterproof jacket or poncho is highly recommended, as weather conditions can change suddenly.
✔ Sturdy Footwear – Waterproof hiking boots with ankle support and good traction are required for the steep and sometimes
muddy terrain.
First Aid & Safety
✔ Expert First-Aid Certified Guides – Our guides are trained in emergency response and altitude management.
✔ Oxygen Tanks Available – Carried in case of altitude discomfort or emergencies.
✔ Fully Stocked First-Aid Kit – Every group is equipped with a comprehensive medical kit for minor injuries or altitude-related

only well-organized but also filled with genuine warmth, camaraderie, and a spirit of collaboration.
Our Super Porters: The Unsung Heroes of the Andes
The Inca Trail and other treks would not be possible without the incredible strength and dedication of our porters. These men and women, who come from remote
Andean villages, have inherited the wisdom of their ancestors and carry out their work with honor and resilience.
✔ More Than Just Carriers – Our porters are cultural ambassadors, guiding travelers through the sacred landscapes of the Incas.
✔ A Legacy of Strength – All of our porters descend from Quechua-speaking families that have safeguarded Andean traditions for centuries.
✔ Fair Wages & Respectful Treatment – We provide our porters with above-standard wages, proper equipment, and fair working conditions, ensuring their
well-being and dignity.
Women Leading the Way in Adventure Tourism

changing this by actively supporting and training female guides and porters, giving them opportunities for leadership and financial independence.
✔ Breaking Barriers – We provide training programs to equip women with the skills needed to thrive in trekking and tourism.
✔ Equal Opportunities – Women in our company work as guides, porters, chefs, and administrative leaders, ensuring balanced representation in all areas.
✔ Community Support – We collaborate with local women’s organizations to offer job training, sustainable income programs, and micro-business support.
Preserving the Real Peru: Culture, Heritage & Authenticity
Peru’s history is written in its traditions, landscapes, and people. At Inside Peru Adventures, we take active steps to safeguard this rich cultural legacy by
integrating authentic, community-based experiences into our tours.
Living Traditions: Keeping Andean Culture Alive

into age-old practices.
✔ Gastronomic Heritage – Our tours include traditional cooking classes, introducing visitors to the ancient flavors of Andean cuisine.

Tourism can either uplift or damage cultural heritage. We ensure that every traveler understands their role in preserving Peru’s sacred sites and traditions by:

communities.
